An exciting opportunity has opened for a casual Funeral Assistant to join the Lightfoot Funerals team located in Gunnedah. The Funeral Assistant will provide assistance to the funeral directors and assist in funeral related duties. 

The successful candidate will have a caring and professional nature with excellent interpersonal skills and an empathic approach when working with client families. This role is an integral part of our business and your care and dignity for our clients is paramount.

In this role you will:

  • Provide assistance in the preparation of funeral services

  • Greet family and attendees for the funeral service

  • Assist the Funeral Directors with preparation and planning for funeral services

  • Driving and cleaning the hearse when required

  • Be available for the after hours on-call roster

  • Assist with transfers of the deceased into our care

  • Assist with loading and unloading coffins

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • Comfortable working in a funeral environment

  • Current drivers licence

  • Honest, reliable, and well presented

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Proficient computer skills

  • Physically fit

  • Customer focused

  • High level of presentation, maintain a well-groomed and professional appearance

Funeral industry experience is highly valued, however, not required, full training will be provided to the right candidate.
